Apple Developer News of 3 June 2026: after injunction lift, new Texas Apple Accounts face SB 2420 age assurance and under-18 parental consent from 4 June 2026.
On 3 June 2026 Apple published Update for Apps Distributed in Texas. After a court ruling lifted an injunction on Texas law SB 2420, new Apple Accounts in Texas became subject to the law’s age-assurance requirements. Changes took effect 4 June 2026.
Developer duties Apple lists
Age assurance and parent/guardian consent on behalf of minors under 18 apply for downloads, Apple In-App Purchases, and significant changes associated with an app. Parents/guardians may revoke consent for apps previously approved. Developers can request age category data via the Declared Age Range API, use the Significant Change API under PermissionKit for material updates, and configure App Store server notifications for consent revocation. Sandbox testing is recommended.
